Forest Fires

While we were on vacation a wildfire was burning just a few miles from the village on the other side of the river. Right before we arrived home, the fires died down and now they are just about out. At one point, the village and state were discussing a possible evacuation of the village, but that never took place.

A few days ago the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) offered to bring the leftover food supplies that the firefighters never used to the church for us to hand out. They showed up today with a pickup bed full of food, and with the help of several ladies and men from our church and the Episcopal church, we boxed up the food and delivered it to about 40 needy families. Unfortunately, a few people stopped by that hadn't gotten a box but we were out of food by then. It was hard to tell them that we hadn't made enough boxes for them to take home.
